John Stubbs

John Stubbs

John Stubbs was the oldest son of Rev. Thomas Stubbs and Mary Kellett Cole. He was born in Hanover St., Liverpool and came with his parents as an infant to Cleveland, Ohio. He was a farmer in Middleburgh all of his life. He joined 103 OVI, Company A in 1862 and fought for the Union for three years. He was mustered out as a Corporal in 1865 and returned to his farm. He was wounded near Atlanta and never fully recovered his health. He lived with his son, Thomas Newton, until his death from a heart attack, following pneumonia, in 1911.

John married Maria Overy on the 04 Dec 1855,
and they had the following 2 children:

Thomas Newton Stubbs (Born: 17 October 1856; Died: 04 February 1918)
John Nelson Stubbs (Born: 01 December 1862; Died: 22 February 1886)
