Stubbs Children

This page is dedicated to the 'other' children of Rev. Thomas Stubbs and Mary Kellett Cole. All of these children died young, and we don't know very much about them.

Isabella Stubbs (Born: 09 December 1822; Died: bet. 29 June 1870 - 1873)
Daughter of Rev. T. Stubbs and Agness Scott
She married Edward Brown Fankell in Trumbull Co., Ohio on 16 Oct 1845. They had two sons and two daughters. Isabella must have died before the writing of her father's will, in 1873, because she is not mentioned.

Joseph Elwood Cole (Born: Jan. - Apr. 1823; Died: 22 August 1844)
Son of Mary Kellett and Samuel Cole
He was the oldest child of Mary and Samuel. We don't think that he ever married. He was a teacher in Illinois, returned home to Ohio to get his sister, Jane (so that she could go back and help him), contracted typhus, and died.

Mary Kellett Cole (Born: December 1824; Buried: 20 December 1825)
Daughter of Mary Kellett and Samuel Cole
She died, at the age of one year, from inflammation of the lungs, and is buried at Low Hill Cemetery in Everton, Lacashire.

John Stubbs (Born: 10 March 1825; Died: 26 January 1826)
Son of Rev. T. Stubbs and Agness Scott
All that we know about this baby boy is that he was christened on 12 June 1825 at Strickland Gate Wesleyan Methodist, Kendal, Westmorland. He was buried in Kendal.

Mary Elizabeth Cole (Born: April 1826; Buried: 24 August 1826)
Daughter of Mary Kellett and Samuel Cole
She died, at the age of four months, from bowl compaction, and is buried at Low Hill Cemetery in Everton, Lacashire.

Samuel Cole (Born: February 1829; Buried: 26 August 1829)
Son of Mary Kellett and Samuel Cole
Jane's 'Our Mother' letter says that a little brother was born about the time of his father's death. This little boy was born a month after his father died. He lived for six months and died of 'water in the head'. He was buried at Low Hill Cemetery in Everton --- in the same grave as his father and two baby sisters.

Thomas Stubbs (Born: Oct. - Dec. 1833; Died: 19 July 1835)
Son of Rev. T. Stubbs and Mary Kellett Cole
He was the first Stubbs child to be born in Ohio, but he only survived for one and a half years. He was interred in Warren, but is listed on his brothers' memorial in Poland, Ohio.
William Stubbs (Born: 14 December 1835; Died: 05 October 1840)
Son of Rev. T. Stubbs and Mary Kellett Cole
This son died just before his fifth birthday. He was born in Poland, Ohio, and he died there as well. He is buried in Poland Cemetery with his step-brother, Joseph Cole.
